Our second week of virtual travel around different UNESCO World Heritage Sites, has seen us take a fascinating trip through the cultural and natural diversity of our wonderful planet. Visiting on the way an archaeological site in El Salvador; a national park in Congo; an ancient Norse and Inuit landscape in Greenland; the historic city of Vienna; a cultural landscape on the Australian continent rich in indigenous meaning; an early C20th social welfare housing estate in Berlin; and the cultural and natural park of Paraty and Ilha Grande in Brazil.
We will continue our journey over the next few months, until we have visited one World Heritage Site in every country.
During our travels, we are acknowledging the global fight against Covid-19. As of today, the total number of confirmed cases in the 15 countries visited is 199,715 (UN World Health Organisation). Every country has reported cases and at least 1 death. 6093 people are known to have died in these countries to date, although even a brief review of the statistics suggests real numbers are distorted due to differential access to testing.
