The internationally renowned author, D.H. Lawrence was born at 8A Victoria Street in Eastwood, a small mining town in Nottinghamshire, England. He spent much of his short life writing and travelling the world.
We are delighted to be working in partnership with the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum to create a Museum Explorer resource showcasing this great author’s life through objects and places. The resource is now live on this website, available for the curious and learners to discover.
We will continue to develop its content while we are all staying at home over the next few months. When the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum re-opens later in the year, the resource will also become an interactive in the gallery; enabling people to see many of the objects for real, as well as learn more about their connection through Lawrence to places across the globe.
Over the next few weeks we will publish stories on The Earth Museum Story Explorer about D.H. Lawrence and his life, inspired by these objects and places. Our first story, D.H. Lawrence: Sitting Under the Piano, takes us to his New Mexico ranch and reflect on his early life story.
NB This resource requires the latest versions of most common desktop browsers, and works best with Chrome and Firefox. It also supports most common current iOS and Android mobile devices.
