Expedition to Undiscovered Lands 50.7300° N, 1.1633° W Entry for 14th October…year unknown Recorders: EP/ PP/ Bennelong
Another day in this strange fog-bound place. The island is full of noises. Today, however, they sound different: we can hear a river, where we can usually hear the sea, and the strange sound of tropical birds calling. The fog feels different, too – warmer, closer. As if we are in the Palm House at Kew. Our local guide Bennelong told me that this place is called Wallumetta by the traditional land owners of which he is one. We took some time quietly to acknowledge those who had been here before us: it is their land, not ours.
