Ocean to Ocean: a Transcontinental Journey across Australia

In 1970, around 10,000 individuals gathered at the East Perth Terminal to celebrate the inauguration of the first uninterrupted rail journey across Australia, connecting the Indian and Pacific Oceans. This significant milestone in Australian history marked the establishment of a seamless connection between the two coasts. The train that completed this journey was named after the two oceans it united. Covering a distance of 4352 kilometers, this transcontinental crossing is renowned as one of the most remarkable rail journeys worldwide. Join guest storyteller, Max Robertson, in this short story as he explores some of the historic landmarks and cultural resonances along this iconic route.
