The Ottoman Craftsmen of Çanakkale Savasi

One of the objectives of ‘The Last Goodbye’ learning resource is to share with students an essence of the multiple perspectives and cultural intersections involved in World War 1. Any local entry point on our World War 1 Explorer map can be used as a starting place for journeying out across the globe, searching for content and stories that reveal the true ‘world’ nature of this conflict. As with the Covid-19 pandemic today, there was no part of early C20th global society that was not impacted by WW1.

Visit The Earth Museum to discover this week’s new story introducing a Turkish perspective on Çanakkale Savasi, or Gallipoli. Outside of Turkey, this campaign is often presented through the lens of Allied troops, as per the ‘sense of place’ link you will find in this story. Watch this link, read the story, and investigate the ‘additional resource’ link to discover more about the whole picture.

NB This resource requires the latest versions of most common desktop browsers, and works best with Chrome and Firefox. It also supports most common current iOS and Android mobile devices.
