World events of these last few weeks and months have provided a powerful reminder that we are all members of a globally connected community. Of the same humanity: one that is vulnerable and compassionate, creative and resilient. Over the coming months, The Earth Museum will continue to curate and share great stories with you, inspired by our connected cultural heritage, that bring us closer virtually to each other and to our planet.
The Earth Museum is based on the beautiful Isle of Wight in southern England. This week’s story, The Ventnor Giant, continues our partnership with Lift the Lid on Island Culture, and our preparation of a map to celebrate the Isle of Wight Walking Festival, ordinarily held in May each year.
Like so many events across the world, the 2020 Festival has been cancelled because of public health measures associated with Covid-19. However, we will continue our work on this project and contribute a virtual celebration of this festival in May.
The Ventnor Giant is a creation by the internationally renowned street artist, Phlegm, and is inspired by Ventnor’s coastal cultural heritage. Enjoy!
