Through the lens of my grandfather

During November, we will share a few stories of ordinary soldiers’ personal journeys during World War I.

Our first story is told by guest storyteller, Sue Kelly, grand-daughter of Joseph William Bowler, who served with the Nottinghamshire Royal Horse Artillery and the Air Flying Corp in Western Asia. Inspired by the camera, photographs and letters discovered at home, she has revealed part of her grandfather’s life she knew little about; and in doing so found a connection to her own, and her son’s, love of photography today.
