D.H. Lawrence: The Phoenix Headstone

After World War 1, D.H. Lawrence travelled widely in Europe and the rest of the world. He died from tuberculosis, aged 44 years, in the South of France. His headstone has a fascinating story of its own, and is recounted here by Shan Davis from the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum.
